I'm so glad I noticed that Curse of the Moon PS4 standard is a pre-order, saved myself $5.50 since i can wait for March 29th and order it along with Bomb Chicken to combine shipping.

Today was a fantastic release day. High caliber quality titles and then theres next week.
Axiom verge is great but I own it on multiple other platforms already.

The other two games lookabsolutely dreadful. And yet LRG passed on Unruly Heroes due to wanting to focus on releasing “better quality” games?!?

Curse of the moon supports that MO. Next week ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT.

Oh well. Happy to save my money next friday. I’ll spend it at Universal instead :)

I almost want to get Axiom Verge, simply because it's likely the final WiiU game we'll see. But I don't have a WiiU and I do have Axiom Verge so no, nothing for me that week unless something else gets announced that I like.

I think Bomb Chicken is only the 3rd PS4 release to be announced before the game was ever even released digitally? Night Trap and Flinthook are the only other two that I can think of, both of which needed patches to get all the trophies and both of which did not have the patches included on the disc.

These releases (Axiom Verge excluded) might be a step down from the prestige of Curse of the Moon, but they don't look terrible either. From the trailers Bomb Chicken is showcasing some high quality pixel art and animation, and Stikbold seems like a good time in a group multiplayer setting for a short while.

I won't be purchasing any of these upcoming titles myself just due to monetary reasons (and I already own Axiom Verge on PS4), but I think this is a 'fine' block of games releasing on the 29th. As a whole not exceptional, but varied and decent.

But does stikbold or bomb chicken even remotely represent “better quality” than Unruly Heroes?

If you think so, I have a map to one eyed willy’s lost treasure that I’m willing to to part with for no small sum of deniro.

I've only known Unruly Heroes by name, I never looked up any details (or if I had, it was during the initial reveal that LRG passed on it and I just forgot).

Having looked up the game now Unruly Heroes does look quite good. However, despite how good it looks in the trailer, the reviews for the Steam and Switch releases are about on par with these two games (overall better than Stikbold, worse than Bomb Chicken). Maybe it's hypocritical of LRG to pass on Unruly Heroes yet sign these games since (from a ratings perspective) they are on a similar level, and from an outside perspective that does seem like an odd move, but I'm guessing there's more going on behind the scenes. Or at least, that would make the most sense.

Who knows, it could have been a small misstep by LRG to pass on Unruly Heroes, all I'm saying is these two games seem alright.

"Axiom Verge, the celebrated Metroidvania from developer Tom Happ, is getting a physical release on Wii U this year. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the game’s distributor Limited Run Games and its business manager Dan Adelman have said that its publisher BadLand Games still owes them around a quarter million dollars."

Aw, you dont like the look of Bomb Chicken? Reminds me of the one side-scroller Bomberman on the GameBoy Color.

Correct, there is no release on March 22nd. There is, however, a variant of The Messenger on Tuesday going up at the same time as the Special Reserve Games version.

The fb announcement for BC was full of happy folks looking forward to this release though so I’m sure it will be another successful release for LRG. JUST LIKE UNRULY HEROES wouldbe been but I digress.

Bah, I liked that games like Celeste and ToeJam and earl had differing prices.
Wonder if this is a standard we'll be going back to now, or if it's just that this and Bloodstained were signed as same-price versions?

I think it's SO hard to tell if it'll be a fast seller or not.
Sure, it's one of the bigger indie games out there and the news of it really has spread.
However, it's already available on the current-generation systems; unlike Stranger's Wrath, while the Wii U is dead as a rock.
But, the Wii U is a Nintendo system, those guys are crazy, especially since this is probably one of the very last releases on the system.
On the other hand, the region locking means that this is the first US-only game LRG releases.

I think it's really, really hard to tell how this'll go.

From my general observations of the physical Switch prices, both limited and not, I'd say it depends on the publisher. Some have no problems selling the Switch version with a $5/10 difference and others would rather have price parity across all platforms.

Yeah, I'm mostly thinking about LRG themselves here; at first it was price parity, then it disappeared with the first games in 2019, but now it's been back again for the last two releases.
Though with the digital price for Bomb Chicken it might just be that it's $19.99 on PS Store when it releases there, in which case it's rather that the Switch version is discounted. Just noticed that qui posted the e-Shop price in the opening post.

I hope this is just a one-off (well, 3 actually) and they go back to their previous pricing. Celeste, Iconoclasts and ToeJam & Earl all cost $5 less on PS4/Vita. This is fair IMO; switch owners pay $5 more to cover the extra cartridge costs.

This month though, Bloodstained is $10 on PSN/eShop so should really have been $25. Bomb Chicken is $15 on eShop so should be $25 and The Messenger is $20 on eShop so should be $30. I don't think it's fair for PS4/Vita owners to pay the same premium.

$5 per game doesn't sound like a lot but it all adds up (22 PS4/Vita games already in the first quarter of 2019).
