Another English supported Asian Switch release coming down the pipeline:

My Girlfriend is a Mermaid!? is a "...heartwarming visual novel from Korean developer, TALESshop and Japanese publisher, COSEN." Compared to the PC release the Switch version has additional scenario content, Live2D animation, and a new theme song sung by the three heroines of the game. This physical release supports English, Chinese, and Japanese subtitles.

And there are those who backed the Kickstarter but got no update on the Kickstarter telling this was happening and now I posted this to the site to tell them about it and I did make a request on there if this is true why aren't supporters getting this option.

Still no responses on kickstarter since I posted the message and links. You think they would respond back when a supporter ask then.

How do the Asian and Japanese releases differ? I thought the Japanese release had no support for English, but the listing on several sites suggests it does.

Yeah, it's really weird and I certainly hope it's correct since I decided to go for the Japanese version. Hopefully it's just the cover that differs.
A bit strange though that Play-Asia lists the multi-language version as "English, Chinese, Japanese" but the Japanese version as "Japanese, Korean, English, Chinese" which would mean there are more languages in that one compared to the multi-language one. :| To me (just guessing here though) it just sounds more likely that they've forgotten the Korean for the mutli-language one and that it's really the same data on both carts.

I contacted Play-Asia support (their Twitter account is useless), and they replied that the Japanese version only has Japanese language support. In the meantime their own page still claims that it has English subtitles.

So it'd seem that I should order the Asian version anyway, but now it's sold out, and Play-Asia seems to be the only place you could get it at. None of this would have been a problem if the listings of the Japanese version were accurate to start with!

This looks promising!

I found some guy on Twitter who apparently bought this:
https://twitter.com/jlfrankiv/status/11 ... 7412797440
That's the Japanese release and not the Asian one.

Later, he Tweeted this:
https://twitter.com/JoshuaMFrench/statu ... 5520165889

So unless he's a physical collector who buys digital games to play, it seems that the Japanese version also has English text.
Considering Play-Asia still have it listed as such on their site is also evidence that points towards this... so I'm guessing the Play-Asia support just messed it up.

I was going by the age rating, from the imports I've got the ones with CERO ratings are Japan-only releases, while Asian releases usually use the GSRR age rating.
The formerly usually lacks an English option, at least for the PS3/PS4, while pretty much all Asian-English releases I've bought has had the GSRR rating.

It doesn't hurt to ask, so I did. The guy confirms it does have English subs.

Thanks man!

Considering the amount of info I dig around for on Twitter, maybe I should really get an account myself...

I wish I had known sooner, because at the time a discount of 10% was active at Shop4BE for in stock items. Now the discount is active once again, but the game is out of stock. :(

Annnd, the Japanese version got a patch today. But as I can't read Japanese, I have no idea what changed, assuming that patch notes were posted.

My Girlfriend is a Mermaid!? is currently on sale during Play-Asia's May Day! Madness sale. The savings aren't much, but if you were planning to buy other stuff on sale anyway you'll save a couple bucks in total.

The only noteworthy thing about that price is that it's below €22, which makes it duty-free for Europeans. But there's still shipping, so you can still get it cheaper from Shop4 if you wait for their regular 10% off promotion.
