We've surpassed 10,000.

This is insane and going forward we will continue to use the open pre-order system on Switch.

Thank you, everyone!
-------------------
Funny comments I saw regarding this:

"It's not limited!"

Yes, it is, once the games are manufactured that's it, no reprints.

"They haven't shipped a Switch game yet, so why trust them?"

Do you really think we are going to drop the ball after 100+ releases on other platforms?

"They are dropping Sony now!"

No, we aren't, we will keep printing PS4 and Vita!

Maybe not, but it sucks that we have to be here every Friday at a specific time to even have a chance at some games whilst Switch users have an easy ride :/

We haven't had anything sell out too crazy on PS4, I feel like we have a better grasp on demand.

Congrats bois! Nice to read that it's doing well and pre-orders will be used from now on for the Switch. That gives me comfort if I ever want to get a Switch title.

Wow, I haven't even placed my order yet. I haven't checked the storefront yet, but can an individual pre-order more than two copies?

I used to be strongly opposed to pre-orders, but I've lightened my stance at this point. I still prefer the "sell what's on hand" model, but that hasn't been happening lately anyway. Hmm...you did that on purpose didn't you, to get us slowly compliant, like the frog in boiling water!? Well played, Douglas.

Switch is the 3DS successor. Nintendo clearly wanted to consolidate home consoles and portability, and regardless of how you view the system, the sales indicate it was the right move.

its not

its not even an portable batery is way too short for it to being an portable for example its way too big to be one too and many more things

but lets not go there in this topic

I wont respond about this anymore in this topic at least

One does not point out the obvious to Mr. Hyde that the Vita and 3DS are dead, while the Switch is a huge success without getting strange replies. :ugeek:

sure both still get retail releases so they are dead logic.

a system is dead when it doesnt get games anymore.

you could make a point that low print run games dont count since they are a special case.

but even then it still gets retail releases so they arent dead yet

also I know the switch is a big succes I even said so myself so what you are stating there doesnt make any sense at all

Dead? The 3DS sold 750,000 units this past December in the US alone, a 27% increase during the same period in 2016. The 3DS only sold a few million less than the Switch last year, and Nintendo has first party games already announced for the system coming in 2019.

I don't want to get in the middle of this pointless argument, but if you're gonna "point out the obvious" maybe you should know what you're talking about.

I believe this is the same situation as Nintendo calling the DS a Third Pillar when that clearly was not the case. But they still wanted people to buy up the last of the Game Boy systems for a year or so. I think we'll see Switch have something along the lines of a Switch Lite not too far off in the future as Nintendo phases out the DS line for good.

is it weird that I think two-week preorders for every title makes LRG switch collecting too easy? like you're just tithing $80 every month towards whatever everyone else wants you to play?

I mean, that's why I've never really been into Nicalis retail games. instead of seeking out something neat, you're playing it safe and at your leisure. and when game buying is at my leisure, I tend to push less-inticing things aside

I think I'll just stick to my vita plan and just pick up whatever catches my eye

Debating on CE's being pre-orders or still limited.

I'm thinking limited but more units for Switch.

But Nicalis launch editions come with extra tchochkes that further runs don’t. :)

I would recomend just x amount for special editions.

otherwise you wil get tons of delays with contents not arriving in time. or if an certain component cant be delivered enough etc.

special edition pre orders are an way bigger risk

sure you know better then me what the risks are but these are some things to keep in mind

Yeah, that's where I'm at.

I don't want to delay anything too far by doing open pre-orders on the CEs.

true, but the little extra goodies wouldn't be a big dealbreaker (and I don't imagine it would break many other's deals either)

which is why I don't really care whether the SE's are kept at a strict limit or not. only reason I would object would be, like Hyde pointed out, wavering supplies of "goodies" might impede production

Congrats on the Switch sales. I’ve rarely played my PS4, Xbox One, Vita, or 3DS since I bought a Switch on launch day. It’s now by far my favorite way to play video games.
